- had a written laguage
- thought to have lived in peace but the Lowland city-states were in warfare with eachother a lot and the gods never had enough human blood
- 2000 BC the earily Mayan days is when the first signs of farming was shown in the highlands and Pacific coastline of Guatemala
- corn, squash and beans were their basic diet which was brought from other places in mexico
- by 1000 BC the lowlands also improved as villages appeared
- the Mayans lived in the same places for centuries so it was easy from them to improve in architecture and for the cities to grow into the cities they are today
- 300 AD. is when cities really started to develope large cities with huge plazas, temples and pyramids that were 20 stories high
