• 1500 BC to 300 AD <-- Pre-Classic period of Mayan culture
• During this time they developed language and their population grew. As well their started to develop towns.
• They liked to break down building and build over them. Most places in Maya today still have pieces of building from when the Mayans existed.
• The Mayans started to record important events. This was carved on stelae.
• The people of Maya adopted the Olmec's skills and practices which helped to make Mayan culture develop.
