Lit Circle Response 2 !!!

As i seem to get farther in the book that more in starting to get sick of animals. I think maybe if it focused less on the hyena and its insane self then i would have been less bored during the last pages i read. Overall i do like this book though and i think that how he thinks he should kill the tiger her doesn't. Well it would be pretty hard to do that but that is something he realized. I think he is a pretty smart boy because i know i wouldn't be able to think at all if i were in that situation.

  • Religion is one theme in this book because Pi is a very religious kid, i mean he has three religions.
  • Morals is another theme because Pi does that right thing rather than something that would benefit him.
  • Water is also a theme in the book since it plays such a big part in the book. Like when he is in the boat, him learning to swim, and how you need it to survive.
A couple of questions i came up with for discussion were:
- What do you think about Pi forgetting about Richard Parker for two days?
- How long do you think that Pi and Richard Parker will be stranded in the boat?
- Do you think that Pi will be able to train the lion?
- What will happen when the lion gets hungry?

I think it was pretty crazy for Pi not to notice a lion on a small boat with him. I mean i don't understand how he is scared now when he could just pretend he doesn't notice it. I don't think that they will be stranded on the boat for much longer since there really isn't that much of the book left and it will get pretty boring just talking about them on a boat. I do think that Pi will be able to train the lion to an extent that he will not kill Pi. I don't know what will happen when the lion gets hungry but it would get pretty intense.

"Do you know which is the most dangerous animal in the zoo?"
I think this is a very powerful passage since they way the author makes the zoo seem really bad. Like i know that in San Diego you can't feed that animals or stab them. So it just makes it clear that things are different and the times were different too.

"Jesus, Mary, Muhammad and Vishnu."
This ties in with the religion as the theme of the book. I think it is interesting how he does have three religions and he loves all of the gods that he worships. He also says this various time when he is in trouble and it just makes you know he wants to pray and what not.
